SCUOLA MEDIA “FRANCESCO SOLIMENA”, GIA’ CONVENTO DEI PADRI RIFORMATI
La costruzione del Convento dei Padri Riformati di S.Ferdinando iniziò il 19 aprile del 1857 per terminare nel 1859. il progetto dell’edificio fu redatto3dall’Architetto Pasquale Maria Veneri, successore del Piccolini nella direzione della “Scuola di Scenografia” di Napoli.
Dopo l’Unità d’Italia l’edificio fu incamerato dalla locale amministrazione comunale, come del resto altre proprietà ecclesiastiche, a seguito della legge di soppressione degli Ordini Religiosi.
Destinato dal Comune di Avellino nel 1878 ad “Asilo di Mendicità”, fu venduto nel 1885 all’Amministrazione Provinciale che lo adoperò quale sede della “Scuola Femminile Superiore” prima, e dal 1924 al 1980 come Istituto Magistrale.
Dopo i lavori di ristrutturazione resisi necessari a seguito del sisma dell’80 è stato destinato a sede della Scuola Media Inferiore “Francesco Solimena”.
MIDDLE SCHOOL "FRANCESCO SOLIMENA", ALREADY CONVENT OF THE REFORMED FATHERS
The construction of the Convent of the Reformed Fathers of S.Ferdinando began on the 19th April in 1857 to finish in 1859. The project of the building was drawn by the architect Pasquale Maria Venere, successor of Piccolini in the direction of the "School of Scenography" of Naples.
After the unity of Italy the building was confiscated by the local town administration, as other ecclesiastical ownerships, following the law of suppression of the Religious Orders. It was destined by the Town Administration of Avellino in 1878 to "Kindergarten of Mendacity", it was sold in 1885 to the Provincial administration that used it like the center of the "Superior Female School" before, and from 1924 to 1980 as Teacher's college.
After the jobs of restructuring necessary following the ‘80 earthquake it has been destined to the center of the Junior high school "Francesco Solimena."
