CHIESA DI S. GENEROSO CON ANNESSO CONVENTO DEI PADRI AGOSTINIANI
Il complesso religioso fu costruito intorno alla metà del sec. XVI, durante il governo della città di Avellino della Contessa Maria di Cardona sulle rovine di un antico tempio pagano.
Ampliato nel 1750 grazie alla generosità dei Principi Caracciolo, fu dotato di una chiesa dedicata al Culto dello Spirito Santo e successivamente nel 1832 a quello del Martire Cristiano S. Generoso da Roma.
ST. GENEROSO’S CHURCH AND AUGUSTINIAN FATHERS’ CONVENT
The religious complex was built in the half of XVI century, during the government of the city of Avellino of Countess Maria Cardona on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple.
It was expanded in 1750 thanks to the generosity of Caracciolo Princes and it was provided with a church dedicated to the worship of the Holy Spirit and in 1832 to that of the Christian Martyr S. Generous from Rome.
