CHIESA DEL SS. SACRAMENTO CON ANNESSO CONSERVATORIO DELLE OBLATE
La chiesa e l’annesso Convento delle Oblate risalgono all’anno 1654 e si devono alla generosità di una ricca e pia famiglia avellinese, gli Imbimbo che con l’assenso delle autorità religiose del luogo istituirono il Conservatorio con lo scopo di creare una istituzione atta all’educazione delle “Fanciulle dedite alla vita monacale”. Nella seconda metà del secolo XVIII il Conservatorio fu trasformato in “ Educandato” per consentire alle fanciulle di buona famiglia di ricevere una educazione religiosa pur non decidendo di vestire abiti monacali.
Fino agli anni ’60 del secolo scorso il complesso religioso ha funzionato in modo eccellente, annoverando un cospicuo numero di monache e converse, ma anche un nutrito numero di studentesse provenienti da vari paesi della provincia di Avellino e varie dimoranti a regime convittuale.
Dagli anni ’70 in poi l’istituzione ha avuto un lento ma continuo declino causato dalla crisi vocazionale e dal mutare dei tempi.
Il sisma del 23 novembre dell’80 ha sancito la definitiva fine dell’antica istituzione dell’Educandato delle Oblate.
SS. SACRAMENTO’S CHURCH WITH OBLATE’S CONSERVATORY
The Church and the Oblate’s Convent go back to 1654 and they are due to the generosity of a wealthy and devout family in Avellino, Imbimbo’s family that with the assent of the religious authorities of the place founded the Conservatory with the purpose of creating an institution capable of bringing the "Maidens dedicated to monastic life."
In the second half of the eighteenth century, the Conservatory was transformed into a "boarding school" to enable girls from good families to receive a religious education while not deciding to dress habit.
Until the 60s of last century, the religious complex has worked so well , enumerating a large number of nuns and converse, but also a large number of students from various countries in the province of Avellino and the various dwelling convittual steady.
From the 70s onwards, the institution has had a slow but steady decline caused by vocations crisis and the changing times.
The earthquake of 23 November 80 sanctioned the definitive end of the ancient institution of the Oblate dell'Educandato.
