TORRE DELL’OROLOGIO
La torre, alta 36 metri, e quindi visibile in tutti i punti del centro antico della città, fu costruita nella seconda metà del XVII secolo su disegno dell’architetto bergamasco Cosimo Fanzago (Elusone 1591 – Napoli 1678) e grazie all’ausilio di un suo giovane collaboratore, Giovan Battista Nauclerio.
Danneggiata dai numerosi terremoti che interessarono la città di Avellino tra il secolo XVII e il XVIII fu restaurata nell’anno 1782 sotto la direzione dell’architetto avellinese Luigi Maria de Conciliis.
Decollata a causa del sisma del 23 novembre del 1980, fu prontamente restaurata ed elevata a simbolo della ricostruzione post sisma della città di Avellino.
TOWER CLOCK
The tower, tall 36 meters, and therefore visible in all the points of the ancient center of the city, it was built in the second half of XVII century on sketch of the bergamasco architect Cosimo Fanzago (Elusone 1591 - Naples 1678) and thanks to the aid of one young collaborator of his, Giovanni Battista Nauclerio. It was damaged by the numerous earthquakes that interested the city of Avellino among XVII and XVIII centuries, it was restored in 1782 under the direction of the avellinese architect Luigi Maria de Conciliis. It collapsed because of the earthquake on the 23rd November in 1980, and it was quickly restored and elevated to symbol of the reconstruction post earthquake of the city of Avellino.
