CHIESA E CONVENTO DI S. MARIA DELLE GRAZIE
La costruzione del Convento di S. Maria delle Grazie risale all’anno 1580, la costruzione dell’attigua chiesa invece all’anno 1584.
Al suo interno conserva un pregevole altare ligneo del XVIII secolo ,che fa da cornice alla veneratissima icona della Madonna delle Grazie, risalente così come le altre due tele laterali, (raffiguranti S. Modestino e S. Francesco allo stesso periodo).
Le tele furono restaurate nel 1902 dal noto pittore irpino Vincenzo Volpe (Grottaminarda – AV 1855 Napoli 1929) autore tra l’altro della Via Crucis e di alcune affreschi nell’antico Santuario di Montevergine.
Degna di nota è ancora una pregevole deposizione datata 1551, dipinta da Silvestro Buono.
ST. MARIA DELLE GRAZIE’S CHURCH AND CONVENT
The construction of St. Maria delle Grazie’s Convent goes back to the year 1580, the construction of the adjoining church instead to the year 1584. In its interior it preserves a fine wooden altar of the eighteenth century, which surrounds the venerated icon of the Madonna delle Grazie, built like the other two paintings on the side (representing St. Modestino and S. Francesco in the same period) .
Tha canvas were restored in 1902 by the famous and irpino painter Vincent Volpe (Grottaminarda - AV 1855 Naples 1929) author of, among other things, the Via Crucis and some frescoes in the ancient Sanctuary of Montevergine. A fine deposition going back to 1551 is still worthy of note, painted by Silvestro Buono.
